Part 3 - Victimization, accommodations, and disability bias
This course offers basic information about
- Incidence and prevalence of victimization of people with IDD;
- The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA);
- Accommodations and when we need to provide them;
- Best practices for interacting with someone who uses a wheelchair, who is blind, who uses a service animal, and who is Deaf and who has a Developmental Disability; and
- How disability bias may impact interactions with victims with disabilities.
What to expect
- Self-paced video slide-based lecture format;
- The Arc of Aurora's THINK+change team as your trainers;
- 1.25 hours of content;
- Closed captioning in English; Spanish subtitles and video recorded American Sign Language interpretation;
- Multiple downloadable TOOLS; and a
- Downloadable Certificate of Completion provided via email upon the completion of the course.
Who should take this course
- Law enforcement agency personnel; and
- Victim advocacy professionals.
